DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) membership has announced the 2007 recipients of its prestigious annual national awards presented by Etonic: Kristy Vik, Buffalo Grove Golf and Sports Center, Buffalo Grove, Ill., Professional of the Year; Teresa Zamboni, Ladies’ Links Fore Golf, Port Orange, Fla., Teacher of the Year; Maria ‘Loopy' Lopez, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Fla., Coach of the Year. The LPGA T&CP membership's Executive Committee selects the national award winners from the pool of sectional award winners voted on by the members of the five regional sections. All three of this year's award winners are first-time national winners.

Zamboni, Teacher of the Year presented by Etonic

Zamboni, a Class A LPGA T&CP member since 2000, is a business partner in Ladies’ Links Fore Golf in Port Orange, Fla. A former competitor on the Futures Golf Tour in the 1990s, the certified personal trainer has parlayed her fitness knowledge into her golf instruction programs, and joined the LPGA T&CP membership in 1995.

Prior to her work at Ladies’ Links Fore Golf, Zamboni served as the Golf Academy Director at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla., where she coordinated a “Ladies Only” Golf League (LOL), organized and planned the Women's Golf Week Programs and conducted three-day Women Only Golf Schools. Zamboni has also volunteered as an instructor at the ADT Championship Clinic at Trump International in West Palm Beach, Fla.

“I'm honored to be recognized in the company of some of the best teachers in LPGA T&CP history, and this is an award that I will certainly reflect on for a lifetime,” Zamboni said. “I love teaching, but more importantly, I enjoy helping my students realize their potential and accomplishing their goals. Unveiling the abilities of students is the mission of teaching, and I love every day of it.”

Zamboni’s teaching efforts range from junior golf to senior golf, and she has offered numerous clinics and camps to teach this broad spectrum of students. Along with providing private instruction, she has coordinated instruction for the PACE Center for Girls, which offers free instruction to young girls to help expose them to the game they otherwise may not have the opportunity to learn. Zamboni’s many accomplishments also include instructing and aiding golfers with disabilities, and she was the lead instructor for the LPGA Physiotherapy Clinic at LPGA International in December 2006.

On top of her teaching responsibilities, Zamboni is an LPGA-USGA Girls Golf instructor, a board member of the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida (OCAF) and the tournament director of the OCAF Golf Tournament, a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club of Volusia County and chairman and host of an annual Rally for the Cure event.

The LPGA Teacher of the Year Award presented by Etonic was established in 1958 and is presented to a female teaching professional who best exemplifies her profession during the year.

When Ladies Links Fore Golf launches its new Web based community in December, LPGA Class A Teaching and Club Professional Teresa Zamboni of Port Orange will figure prominently into the mix of professionals available online.

Zamboni, the former golf academy director at the LPGA International Course in Daytona Beach, instructed hundreds of students during her eight-year tenure there. Now she is expanding her reach with LLFG.

“It is a female-based company launching a Web site for female amateur golfers,” Zamboni said. “It will include everything from golf tips to videos and audio to download and purchase, to handicap services and tournament opportunities. I am one of the partners, one of the golf experts. We have one team psychologist, one personal fitness trainer and one registered nurse. We all have our specialties.”

Zamboni authored the “Golf Academy Instruction Handbook” for her students at LPGA as a tool for them to use away from the teaching clinics. Listening to her students through the years, she found that they needed some extra help.

“You hear of the challenges they have when they go to a golf course or a pro shop. Everyone’s schedule is so busy that it doesn't always fit into the daylight hours. So the Web site is perfect way for people to reach us, the pros, on their time. We also wanted to provide a community for people. If you want to go play in California, you can contact someone through the Ladies Links Fore Golf,” Zamboni said. “Based on how busy people are, scheduling a lesson is not always convenient, but if you go online you can ask a trainer what exercises to do to improve your golf swing.”

And according to the LPGA, Zamboni is one of the best instructors to consult about your swing. She has been nominated for a second straight year as the Southeast Section Teacher of the Year. The award winner will be announced Monday.

The LLFG Web site is scheduled to launch in December at ladieslinksforegolf.com.
